HORIZON with BEDOUIN AND VIKEN ARMAN
Tuesday isn’t just another day but the day with a vibrant night on the horizon. It unfolds with high-pitch cheers and chants to sunset, transposing – with dusk falling – down into whoops and applause to our electroacoustic deep house daimons one by one taking and changing shapes on stage.
Bedouin is a Brooklyn-based production and DJ partnership between nomads Rami Abousabe and Tamer Malki, who are creating their own idiosyncratic spell of melodies and rhythms. Together they share an eclectic sonic vision that pulls from diverse influences owing to their Middle Eastern heritage, Western upbringing, and world travels. Their combined musical backgrounds and ever-evolving taste captures the sensibility of imagination and constantly explores the connection between ourselves and the future.
Denature Records founder, event organizer with SOUQ Festival, and all-around guardian of the global electronic music industry, Viken Arman is both experimental in his output and far-reaching in his influences. A talented pianist brought up in Georgia’s Caucasus Mountains to the sound of jazz and classical music, Viken Arman aims to diffuse cultural boundaries through music.
In his decades long career, Athenian-born LANNKA has always been drawn to creating music whose melody and harmony takes listeners on a dance-floor adventure. But it’s his collaboration with fellow Greek DJ Valeron—under the label Bercana,—with global musical influences that can truly be described as transcendental.
